Mixed bed is a system in which water passes through a hydrogen cation exchange resin and a hydrogen-oxygen anion exchange resin. Hydrogen cation exchange resin is used to remove cations in water, and hydroxyl anion exchange resin is used to remove anions in water. The mineral salts in water can be basically removed through a mixed bed. In order to obtain better desalination effect, strong acid cation exchange resin and strong alkali anion exchange resin were loaded in the mixed bed. Mixed beds are also divided into in-vivo synchronous regenerative mixed beds and in vitro regenerative mixed beds.
The mixed bed is the abbreviation of mixed ion exchange column, and is designed for ion exchange technology. The so-called mixed bed is to pack a certain proportion of cation and anion exchange resin in the same exchange device to exchange and remove ions in the fluid. Because the proportion of cationic resin is larger than that of anion resin, the anion resin in the mixed bed is below the upper resin. Generally, the proportion of positive and negative resin filling is 1:2, and there are also filling ratios of 1:1.5, which can be selected according to different resins. Mixed beds are also divided into in-vivo synchronous regenerative mixed beds and in vitro regenerative mixed beds. Synchronized regeneration mixing bed is operated in the mixing bed and the whole regeneration process is carried out in the mixing bed. Resin is not removed from the equipment during regeneration, and both positive and negative resins are regenerated at the same time. Therefore, the auxiliary equipment needed is less and the operation is simple.

The in vitro regeneration equipment mainly includes resin separator, Yin (yang) resin regenerator, resin storage tower, hybrid resin tower and acid-base regeneration equipment.
